Around here you can't go look at a small caliber centerfire rifle.
I asked the owner of a pretty good sized gunshop
what he thought of the 17 HH and he did mention he
had heard of the 17 Remington and on further questioning
had not heard of the 17 FB.
I have bought mine online one way or another. Kenny

You might have better luck knowing what brands of rifles the shops carry in your local area, or specialize in those brands. Brands like CZ, Cooper, Savage, Anschutz, Ruger, whether they are RF or CF. Or, if they have a strong internet presence.

I can buy online cheaper than ordering one in from a local shop.
I wouldn't buy a Savage or Ruger if they had it. Kenny

No arguments here. Haven't bought a brand new rifle in years, except for a 10-22 to build up as a custom.

I'd say First Stop Gun Shop in Rapid City South Dakota. They have a great selection of Cooper rifles. However, Saubier is the first place I look.

Thanks Guys
I would be specifically looking for a 22 Hornet. I'll check Bass Pro's.

If you get the opportunity buy a CZ --- I feel like they make the best small caliber rifles in the sub $700 range. Not a cooper but only half the price. They used to carry CZs at the Turners Outdoorsman about 10 years ago --- not sure if they still do.
