This has to be the best thread ever! Look at all the lovely 17AH rifles, and soooo many Coopers!

Here's my ragtag pair of Contenders both wearing their Bullberry 17AH barrels. The carbine is an 18" with a Bullberry fore end. The pistola is 12" with Pachmayr grip and the original TC fore end for the 14" barrels. The 12" barrel dates from December of '91 and the 18" barrel dates from April of '92.

Love them both.

A17, Are there any after market goodies available for Contenders? Like triggers or bits to speed the lock time up a little. Thanks, ken.

.17Rem takeoff, shortened, rechambered on a .22 Hornet CZ action, mounted on a Cooper M38 stock. No - didn't fit well, but looks OK if you don't look too closely, fits well and shoots even better. PacNor 24" x 9" twist, 3 groove going on soon. The white patch on the bell of the scope gives zeros to 500 yards using the crosshair and post as reference - works well, btw.

Here's one with the proper allowance for wind, atop the small rock right on the ridge line. No, couldn't shoot him until he dropped down onto the ground, rock in the background - pow--pock!

Daryl: Great shot through the scope. That's about the hardest picture to take that I've ever tried. Some turn out, most don't when the FOV turns black or partially obscures the image. When they do turn out, it's always a neat picture....like yours.

I'm guessing that that particular rat got launched soon after the shutter was snapped?

Not as pretty as the others, but here's my 17AH. Pro Hunter/MGM and a Leupold 6x18.

On the old style Contenders the triggers were three way adjustable which worked well enough for most. The hammer springs on the old style soften after a few years and need replacing, also they break from normal use. Bellm has trigger parts for G2 & Encore also. Here are some of the custom accessory houses.

Bellm (Many trick parts)

On Target Technology (EDM Chambering)

EABCO

SSK

Match Grade Machine

Bullberry

Most of these shops will talk to you about your projects and help develop you wild dreams. Bullberry usually has redding dies for the calibers he chambers along with some nice wood.

Enjoy,
