A Piece of History...
If you have ever had the pleasure of reading P.O.Ackley's books, you may recall there is a part written by Fort Worth gunsmith Lou Williamson about his building of a rifle chambered for .17 Javelina. About 50 years ago my Dad bought the rifle from him. I watched my Dad make some wonderful shots with that rifle. Made me want a .17 as soon as I could afford it. My Dad gave me that rifle recently, and I took the rifle over to Lou Williamson shop, yes he is still in business, and I took this picture you see below of him holding the rifle. It was the first time he had seen it since he sold it to my Dad. He told me all about it and talked about some of the details. He told me about dropping a coyote at over 300 yards with it!!! I have never shot the rifle...

Very nice Johnny!
Funny that you should mention Lou Williamson. In 1968 he made a nice 17AB Martini for a close friend of mine. It's forend is very similar to yours.
I hope you don't mind my posting a pic of it, in your thread. Kevin |

Yes...
That's the scope. I believe it is the B4, he wasn't absolutely sure.
and Kevin... A friend of my Dad is the one who talked him into buying the rifle. That man bought at the same time a Martini which was chambered for a .17 based on the .218 Bee. Is the stock on that one mesquite? He told me of the problems of shaping and making stock out of mesquite. I'll take some pictures of some of the details of the gun, so you can see what he went through to create it. The checkering on the grip is incredible, and he said, a real pain to do... |

Johnny.......
I'm pretty sure he told me that the stock started as a crotch walnut Fajen Aristocrat.
Lou built the rifle for him while he was on a year long job assignment in Vietnam. Kevin |
