Supposedly Boyds is in the process with a stock. That would go a long way to making it better in a lot of ways. It would look better, it would be much more rigid, and it would have a much better design for bedding.

Mic converted a CZ Model 452 Scout to a single shot 5mm Rimfire. He knows his stuff. A B.MAG will be shipped to him soon to convert to 5mm Rimfire as well.

This rifle/action will open some doors for my biggest passion, the 5mm Rimfire!

Default Looking Forward To It...

I hope he succeeds and it functions great. A new 5mm, it's about time one shows up. I hope Savage is watching as well...

If he can get it to function and be as accurate as my CZ 5mm, then I think Savage will take note! The magazine will be the key, as my CZ is only a single-shot.

Just to give you a hard time..

Eric, what would Savage ( now owned by ATK ) take note of..? You mean the 5mm ammunition made only by Aguila and completely ignored by CCI?

Public companies are around to make money. I'm going to believe that ATK will continue to let Savage Arms work as a separate subsidiary like they have Federal Ammunition. Most corporations want to expand into as many areas as possible, not alienate themselves by only offering what they are able produce.

Take CocaCola's purchase of the Energy Brands (Vitamin Waters, SmartWater, etc). They purchased the company and left it alone to do what it does best, make money!

So, back to your question. I think Savage's release of the B.MAG, with an action capable of handling the pressures of the 17WSM, as well as the 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum, is a boost for guys like me. Also, the folks at Savage have stated that they are planning on chambering more calibers in the B.MAG action in the future, that too is a hopeful sign.

Even if it does not come to fruition, there will probably be some enterprising gunsmiths that will eventually offer conversion rifles with a price tag that is tolerable (not possible using CZ rifles).

A rimfire guy I know once said the following (on this forum):
Quote:
Anyhow, for those 5mm fans, my hat is off to you. Fight the good fight ( in terms of keeping it alive ). Variety is the spice of life in the small caliber world.
I'll keep doing just that, with a positive attitude!!

Eric
