Default 17 wsm and savage

Not sure about this, but just got off the phone with my buddy and thought that I would relay information. After shooting his new savage he noticed ring a few inches from the muzzle. He called savage and was told that they were having problems with bullets not exiting the barrel and then the shooter firing another round. He is sending the gun back to savage. I don't know if this information is correct or not but would hate to see someone get hurt. If you have a savage in 17 WSM be careful.

Wow. See if he will send you a picture. Did he say if it is an ammo issue or is the barrel out of spec?

That is all I know at this time. I posted as soon as I heard to hopefully keep someone from getting hurt.

Was the barrel plugged with bullet/s stacked ? Or did they clear the bore and just leave the ring/pressure bulge ? Bill K

That is the rifle-cartridge combo I was scoping when I was having all the problems bore sighting. Maybe I was lucky I did not get it ready to take out and fire. Thanks for the info. Keep up posted. Paul
