Id like to see more chronograph data on the A17 ammo in bolt action rifles.

Savage no doubt got a lesson with the B mag so I think its a good sign they must be confident the ammo situation is stable enough, (to be introducing a new gun).
I would just say buy a supply of ammo with your new gun (especially if the
ammo is specific to the auto loader), if you can't because of ammo shortage, I'd reconsider.

Got a call today that the A17 I ordered through Gallensons in Salt Lake just came in. I will pick it up tomorrow. When I was in there last Saturday, they told me that they had over 100 cases of 17hmr in the back room. They have had 22mag on the shelf for some time as well and aquilla 22lr on the shelf continuously for many months. They also put out several calibers of brass this week. Things are definitely loosening up. Give me a few weeks to mount a scope and get to the range with this thing and I will give you a range report.

I was reading article in a new gun magazine at Walmart today it was on the new Savage 17auto, and the chrono data showed the new 17A ammo was going 2,772!! And the rifle an ammo shoot very good groups. I will get my chrono out sometime this week and see what my Ruger 77/17 does with it. Maybe 2,800fps,

My CZ 452 American averaged 2725fps over a few 5-shot strings. That was 80 degrees at 2500', today up in the high desert.
