Brings to mind the old saying of "Too much of a good thing".

I spent almost eight years, full time, in the dive industry. Got in to it because I loved it. Ask me when was the last time I got in the water without being paid to do so.......

I like to shoot and hunt a bunch, but I also like other things like kayaking and surf fishing to break up the routine. All "pleasure" of one kind makes Jack a dull boy....

Among the tests that I heard about are the following. These are not all the tests that they did

They shot enough 5.56 ammo through short barreled rifles that they had to sweep unburned powder up in front of the firing points several time a shift to prevent a Nosler event. The test period consumed 3.5 million rounds of military cartridges, I don't know if this amount of ammo was for one or more tests. His team often did tests where the rifles were to be fired to destruction, often in lots about 40 rifles at a time and to very controlled procedures and techniques.

They also tested a new semi-auto 3 1/2" 12 gauge with heavy loads in foul weather until they ceased to fire. These test were mandated that they would all be shoulder shot on flying targets. One weekend when we were talking he was pretty well beaten up by 35 hours of testing on a trap range in the worst weather that they had experienced all winter.

I know now that I don't shoot as much as I did before I opened our business and began making firearm parts and most likely when I do shoot it because I am testing production parts or new ideas.

So be careful what you wish for.

As a professional rabbit shooter, I can assure you the last thing I want to be doing on my time off is............shooting rabbits with a 22LR. Watching them splat at greater distances than 25 to 30 yards is a totally different thing, as is hunting on foot.
