Sako L461 Price
Hi All,
I have four Sako L461's that I am thinking of selling 2-.222, 1-.222 mag heavy barrel and a 6X47. I went to several sites to see what they are selling for and was more confused than enlightened by what I saw. There are prices from the $400's to over $1,300 for ordinary rifles, the exceptional rifles over $2,000???? So this being the best site for small rifle knowledge, I thought I would ask what you all thought a decent, normal price should be for a very good condition, original Sako L461 rifle. All comments, suggestions or advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Marcos (elalto) |

I use the 'completed listings' search in GB for my pricing, filtering by 'highest number of bids'. When I list a gun it starts at a penny, no reserve. I also have found ending a listing early in the week, as opposed to a weekend, gets better results.

Hey barretcreek, thank you that sounds like good advice! I would like to list on some of the forums that I frequent prior to listing on GB to give the members a "first shot", therefore, I would like to price as fair as I can.
Thanks again, Marcos (elalto) |

I have Sako A1s in 17Rem, 221fb ( custom), 22, and 6 ppc. Great guns. On value, condition is very important, and sometimes subjective. For what you described, I’d say in this range, $1200-1500. And if deluxe models with great wood, add $3-400.

The L461 values are also affected by when they were made, "pre Garcia" or after. "Pre Garcia" rifles are perceived as higher quality and generally speaking have SN's below 100,000. Most Pre Garcia rifles will have pistol grip caps and Barrels marked "Bofors Steel" . Some rifles in and around the SN 100,000 range may have combinations of both eras of rifles.

One other thing. If listing on GB it helps to use someone with a good track record. If you have zero sales/purchases people may be a bit shy.
