25/45 sharps
Is this cartridge kinda still a small caliber?
Picked up a CZ527 this past weekend that had a small transformation from a varmint 223 to a 25/45 sharps rifle. Currently shooting 75 grain v-max out of a necked up .223 case. Grouping is starting at a easy 3/4 inch. (yes, work will be done to shrink that) If the weather cooperates this weekend. Then I am anticipating to take it out for the annual bunny blast. Any other folks out there playing with the 25/45 sharps? if so, hows it treating you?

Considering the USS Iowa had 16" guns, "I" would call it a small caliber What kind of velocity are you getting with that? It looks interesting, but all I have seen is AR based.

Good point as to small caliber 16" vs .25"
Velocity is unknown at the time. I have used factory specifications for the reloading. They show velocity out of a 16" or 20" barrel with a semi auto. I'll have to dig out the chrono to see what I'm getting out of a bolt

I'm way old school, still shootin a 1892 Winchester in 25-20 with the 60 Grain Hornady's. Blows a pretty good sized hole through the garbage can raiding coons! If I use cast 90 grain it just pokes a hole through them.

isn't the 25/45 a slightly shortened case? I had pondered doing a 25-223 years back but have settled on a improved 6-223 of my own flavor. it's setup for 105's and 2.5+ COAL

I have not seen the print but a .223/556 is 45mm.
