Just a WAG at this point, but over the years I've been told by a couple of pretty good wood carvers that checkering maple is not an easy task, and that's its far harder than walnut.

For the rifles involved in light recoiling varmint calibers where checkering has little real value, checkering might not be worth the effort in terms of messing up an otherwise great looking piece of wood.

Again, just a WAG...........

Cooper does all their checkering by hand, so skipping it on a maple stock would not surprise me. (PS: I've stood next to the main lady who does the checkering, while she showed us how she does it. Amazing work.)

This thread is about My M21 204R for sale. If you guys want to discuss whatever it is you want to discuss start a thread. I do not understand why people feel the need to post in a for sale thread with no intent to buy????

Good point. Sorry I was one that veered off the thread being a "for Sale".

OP - You might try posting a For Sale in the classifieds on rimfirecentral.com, there is a fairly active Cooper group there and a couple of them like the maple stocked ones, maybe a better chance of selling it there.

Thanks. I posted here first because I love the small cal community and thought there would be more desire for it here. I just don't shoot the little ones much any more.
