Went out for a freezer fill trip today, came out ok.
Finally started to get a little snow, went out on a meat hunt as I'm prone to. Had a quick shot open on my preferred target which is a fat cow but they were in a long string and I wasn't sure of what was behind her so I passed.
As the tail of the long string (100 or so ) started to get close to leaving us the bulls showed up as they do in a string like that. It was early and overcast so a bit hard to see at the 350ish yards they were at. When the smallest of the three obviously legal bulls stopped broadside and clear I figured it's now or never so he decided to come home for diner with me . Not much of a trophy by trophy standards but at our house the trophy's are measured by taste...Nancy's. He's definitely to small to have been involved in the mating fray so while not a cow he'll be a nice "frying-pan" bull. A legal bull in Montana is called a "brow tined bull", he has to have at least one 4 inch tine on the lower half of the main beam. Weighed 360ish minus legs, head etc at the cutters. The white spots are snow flakes reflecting the camera flash back. Saw this little gal on the way out. She was curious about us but sure not scared, that was on my camera phone so she was close. No luck in the wolf dept but maybe later

Wemt out for a freezer fill trip tody
Those do make for good eating and better taste, than the big/old bulls. Like you have killed some of them, so now it is meat in the freezer style. Congrats on your harvest. Bill K

Good job Doug. Always good to get the freezer full early.

Thanks.
The Cartridge is a .300 Win Mag. Load is 75 grains of RL22 in WW cases under a 190 grain Hornady Interlock, chrono's 3,000ish FPS and not only shoots exceptionally well in that BDL but it hits a ton!

Real nice Doug, really nice. I can taste a piece of it fried up right now. Of course the only elk in Texas are on private ranches but I used to do the same with exotics, Axis, very good eating.
I thought maybe you were going to say it was neck shot with your new Mex 222. Ha Ha. Congratulations. Jim D SE Texas

Awesome shooting my friend!
Glad to see another BDL out hunting. The buddy at work and his dad that I reload for enjoy theirs in 7mm Magnum.Shots touch at 100 usually.Your shooting ability has obviously improved since shooting so many small calibers.
