Wife mentioned something about a BIG THUNDER STORM in the Susanville area yesterday evening that was a BIG help with the fires. Didn't stop it but sure helped.

Bill, the very best to you and your family in this time of distress. If you're reading this, that means you at least have net access, so that is a positive sign.

Praying for your home to be safe.

Okay Guys and Gals: We had to bail out pretty fast last Sunday and were out and moved into town with the daughter until Friday afternoon, when they allowed us to go back into your little village area up on the mountain, but we are still under warning evac. But about half the village has moved back in (no place like home). The fire is still around us, about 3/4 of the way, mostly to the s.e, w. and north, but not 45 % contained. By the way, we had no internet, phone due to the fire burning around 1500 ft of fiber optic line, then the power poles and lines went down, in the whole area for just short of two days. So that added to the fun in the area.
( We are in the Hog fire and for those that asked the Gold fire is further North up around the Adin/Bieber area)
No homes of outbuildings lost here, thus far and I think we are pretty well out of the real danger of that occuring.

But thanks to all of you and to those that did get a email or contact before we bailed Friday. This is one great site and a whole bunch of fine folks, you all are. Bill K

( Just adding to photo and info Mikie posted. If you look to the north side of the fire area, and see that little red dot, that is about where my little village of Lake Forest Estates sets. So you see we were in danger. And still not fully out of the woods, so to speak yet, but all will go well. )

Well yes and no, the really good thunderstorm and down pour that lasted 1/2 or so, was in the lower portion of Susanville, and the valley east. Not up on the fire zone, there was some rain that fell up there, but not very much, but what did, was better than nothing. Bill K

Welcome back Bill.

At least you still have a home to go back to.
Lots of folks the last couple years out there
weren't near as lucky.
