The benefit to using a pic rail on a CZ 527 is it opens up your options for choice of rings. The negative to using a rail is even with the lowest set of rings you can get a rail still raises the scope up and the comb height on CZ stocks is fairly low and it creates alignment issues.
I put a pic rail on the CZ 527 Varmint 204 Ruger I used to have. The scope had a 50mm objective so I needed a little extra height but even with the lowest set of 30mm rings I could get the scope was still to high to get any kind of decent cheek weld and to see through the scope I'd have to lift my head up off the stock. If you shoot free recoil I suppose it wouldn't be an issue but I ended up putting a kydex adj. cheek piece on it solve the problem I created. |

None of the new rifles come with rings.

And yet, my last new one had a set of rings in the package, with the rifle.

Not a 527, but I bought a Model 455 in 22 Mag about a year ago, and it came with rings in the box. I was surprised.
No idea about whether current 527's come with rings or not. I haven't bought one recently. -BCB

I am wondering, if you happen to buy a CZ 527 that was packaged and sent from the European factory, could they still be putting rings in, whereas the USA factory is not ? Maybe why some have rings and some don't. Curious.

I just looked at the CZ-USA website, and it says the 527 American does not include rings anymore. I wonder if they changed the practice because of all the choices of scopes, scope sizes and rings sizes available?
They do have a list of rings and ring heights for CZ rifles on their website under "support." |

Could be, who really knows. Does it matter, I had rings with the rifle. If it was the last one, with such, so be it. In the future I will just buy rings from other sources, as I and so many do with other rifle brands. Not a big deal.

There is no US factory for CZ rifles, they're building one (it may be up and running now) for Pistols.

Earlier this year CZ bought Colt. However they have been manufacturing pistols in US since 2005, when CZ purchased Dan Wesson. They make a superb 1911 and recently revitalized the Dan Wesson Revolver line (.357... not the 44 Mag, yet). I have been shooting one of their 1911 for 10 years and couldn't be happier.
