Default New powders in the .17 Ackley Bee

Anyone using the newer powders in the .17 Ackley Bee. It seems to me that CFE Black would be a natural for it, but i can find no data

I’ve not played with it much but yes it’s supposed to be the latest and greatest in the 221 Fireball too.

Yes, I have… well actually the 17 KB. I started out working up loads in the 17 Jet for a gentleman in Des Moines Iowa who called and asked me if I would do that for him… and of course it lead to the 17 KB (already using it in a CZ 17 HH). I had decent results with it but didn’t purse it much because I only had a pound of it for a special purpose and that was back when the shortage first hit so I figured I better save what I have. I’ll look and see if I have any records for it at home,

I didn’t know this and recently loaded up 1500 rounds with 1680. I should have waited lol I didn’t need to load them, just needed some therapy so I finished 800 pieces of brass made from LC 223. The rest was factory brass. Now I have a good reason to go shoot them up… we’ll if powder ever comes available again lol

Definitely no flies in 1680 either. I did however start buying CFEBLK when I saw it a couple years ago so I have a few pounds to try when the H110 and 1680 get low.

Have not used it in a 17AB, but have in my 17HH, 12.5 grains CFEBLK under the 15.5 NTX works great.
Would think it would work well in your Bee.

I couldn’t find my load notes and recently changed my email so I don’t have any of the info I sent a guy in Demoines Iowa.

So o just loaded some up14.5, 15.0 and only two with 15.5 hrs of CFE BLK and a 25 gr Hornady hp.

If I have time tomorrow all day you have to chronograph and go shoot a couple groups.

Didn’t take time to shoot groups, wasn’t up to walking out to the 100 yard target so I just shot some through the chrony which was having issues also.

Primers looked well rounded on all three loads using WSP. 15.0 load was the only one I got a reading on and it was 3745.

Didn’t take time to see how they shot from my other CZ 17 killer bee.

I've tried it in my 221 FB and it delivered velocity claimed in the Hodgdon load data. Accuracy was OK, but not as good as the other loads I've been using.
