I must be looking at the wrong site, as posted/webpage, as they say all sold out on the bullets and I find to path for a 17 caliber mold, by them. Where have I missed ? BIll K

Bill, check noebulletmolds.com. They are out of the 32gr but have the 26 gr. They are a hollow point bullet. That may be tricky to cast. My 27 gr isn't a hollow point but they may have stopped making that one.

K.Y. No, not really, but it probably would work. : . Actually I just use marine lithium grease, or any old standard wax. The other option I have used is clean and lube the barrel. This is for me a low volume use bullet. At most four or five shots before I put it up, so though there is some dirty unburned powder, it doesn't really matter for my application. If I seat the bullet way out so that firmly engages the lands, the powder burns much more cleanly. None of my primers using this bullet ever are flat, the calculated pressures are well below 10,000psi. That low pressure probably keeps the leading problem way down. |

Ok... nobody spelled it out for my poor comprehension skills so I have to ask...
Why. Why would anyone ever cast 17s. Don’t get me wrong, I like to do things and have done a lot of cast bullets for a 5mm mag... It just seems to me the slow moving cast bullets would take the fun out of a 17? I guess it’s hard for me to have the good vision you all do

I just thought maybe for some short range indoor shooting or even in the pellet rifle, for a fun project.

I didn’t think about a pellet gun. I suppose it would make a good back yard critter getter if you live in a more populated area?
They should be fun to play with, I enjoy making 30 gr, 20 caliber bullets.

.217's and .218's for the .22 cal. air rifles are the smallest pellet moulds, I think.
Gary, I've used my Weirhauch .177 Model 97 underlever on gophers to 56yards. One farm we shot up had a lot of the rats around buildings and horse pens/corrals where we would/could not use the RF's or CF's. One year I took the air rifle down and had a blast. I used the "Predator" re-plastic tipped lead HP's - worked very well with head and chest hits to 56yards. You just have to find out which pellet shoots best in your rifle. Some can be as finicky as CF rifles are with bullets and loads.
