Is the Contender barrel blued or stainless. If blued, I'm very interested. What does no throat reamer mean???

Barrels
Yes, it is a blue barrel. No throat means rifling starts at the end of the case. This allows bullets to be seated deeply without going below the neck shoulder junction, at least with 20 and 25 grain bullets. You can seat bullets out as the throat advances, without the long jump that usually is detrimental to best accuracy. (Find a bench rest shooter that seats with a long jump) The long throat that Remington built into the 17 Fireball was to prevent pressure spikes, but has a poor reputation for accuracy. nvtoy

Contender barrel
20VarTarg, not sure if my PM went to you. Shot about 100 rounds through barrel in a G2 frame. I find Contenders sensitive to how their held. Had best luck with my left hand resting on scope, shot pretty well with this method. This was with the inexpensive Dogtown (Nosler Shots) bullets. Let me know if you have any other questions. nvtoy
