What ammo problem are you speaking of? I have about 3K through my Volquartsen 17 HMR with no issues...

I’m with you guys… I love the little 17MkII. I have hardly shot any of my 22LR’s since I bought my first 17MkII.
I own a CZ 452 Varmint, Kimber Classic Varmint and a Sako P95s HB that I converted to 17MkII with a Lilja drop-in barrel that I’m still breaking in. All shoot great and are wonderful squirrel getters.
Stocked up on Ely ammo (2K rounds) before it ran out but at the rate I’m going I may have to find another brand if I live long enough. The Kimber did show a preference for the Hornady brand or the CCI stuff (as well as Ely) but can’t remember which now. Darn! … Guess I’ll have to do some more range time to find out.

Does anyone know if Ely is going to make another run of their 17MkII ammo?

Built a BSA 1215 17HM2 nine years ago.

Hornady used my Bug-hole sight group in their catalog some years ago.

Head shot, wasp, 25 yards.

Since then I have put over 25,000 rounds through the gun. Need I say it was my favorite rifle?

Was... Last year I built a 17HMR on a 1215 and it seems be pushing the 17HM2 to second place for favorite. There is no question in my mind the HM2 is the more accurate of the two guns, but the HMR seems a better killer and shoots further out on the gophers.

Taking the big leap and have had a pair of of 17 HH's built on a BSA 6 and 1215. Won't get to use them until I get back home next year.

Just don't see a need for all those bolt action magazine fed, a-salt rifles you guys have...one shoot one gopher. The one that runs down the hole will always pop his head up and look back. Better skilled shot, than a run and miss shot.

I have taken number of badgers with the HM2 but always go for a nostril-eye-earhole shot. Same with the few rock chucks I shot.

As far as ammo for HM2, I have found them all to be accurate, but they all shoot to a different point of aim, but never much more than 1/2 MOA difference. For Gophers the accuracy difference is not significant. For a target shooter there might be a critical difference.

I hope the HM2 never goes away....it is a great cartridge.

The 1215 HM2 is also my Granddaughter's favorite rifle.

I have specifically left it and all ammo for it to her in my will.

My CZ452 mach2 is my favorite rifle. It is a lazer to 125 yards' very accurate, light recoil and quiet.

I bought 7000 rounds of eley ammo years ago.

I never shoot my 22s any more, the Mach2 is so much more accurate and usable.

Whittakers seems to get runs of the CZ452 Mach2 fairly often.

Never heard of any SA HMRs for sale in UK. I think (But not sure) that we aren'
t allowed anything but .22RF in semi auto.
Cracked necks were in BA rifles.

What handguns are chambered for 17hm2? More importantly, who has one for sale? I have a 17hmr single six that I have been trying to find a mach 2 cylinder for. I didn't know what all else was out there.

My only mach2 is a sako quad that I absolutely love. Probably my best gun. However, it only shoots the eley really well. I have about another thousand rounds of it, so I have been trying to use it sparingly. I don't know what I will do when I run out. When eley was selling cheap, I was just married and then started having kids. Didn't have the spare money then. Now I can't afford what it sales for.

I have one in Win 1885 and love it! managed to save quite a bit of ammo as well, ready to survive the "great hoarding" of 2012-2013.
This caliber will live for a long time.
