77/22 Hornet action
I don't think the 77/22 HORNET action ever was clamped. Always a threaded receiver from Ruger.
Recently the 22LRs and Mags were changed over to threaded receivers from the clamp system. I've seen NEW Ruger 77/22 rimfire barrels easily visible at a downward angle. The clamp pulls down and it seems at least one receiver got out with a poorly milled receiver barrel channel. The owner couldn't even get close to sighting in a scope, no where near enough 'up' adjustment in the scope and then he noticed the barrel down angle. It was sent back to Ruger and I assume they corrected it [new rifle]. I think I would prefer a threaded rimfire receiver anyway. |

I have had one for several months now and after about a 50 round careful break in I am very pleased with it. I didn't care for the 5lb trigger so I put a Rifle Basix trigger in, it now breaks at 1 lb with no creep.
It shoots .25-.50 inch at 100 yds with factory ammo off my bench setup. I really like the looks of the rifle and the features. I would buy it again. And yes I have several CZs! I also have several Coopers that shoot only slightly better, Will be interesting to see how it does with hand loaded ammo. I bought this rifle to replace my HMRs. Dave |
