Threaded muzzles
Lots of new guns on the market with threaded muzzles, do the manufacturers know something the general public is only speculating on at the moment?

With an eight month backlog for supressor clearances and the recently leaked ATF white paper, I doubt the manufacturers know any more than the general shooting public. I read where it'll be late 2018 before anything moves on the Hearing Protection Act.

Maybe the BATFE will become less constipated if the late Obama XO's will be reversed by the current administration.

Many of the barrel makers started offering this on their barrels, mostly as a marketing item, to aid in buyers purchasing their barrels all ready for muzzle brakes and supressers, if they can use them and for those that, maybe in time, will also be able too do so. Bill K

It costs 25 cents to thread the muzzle in a production environment, and they can charge you 25 dollars or more extra money.

Does a barrel have to be removed to thread it?

Not always. It' depends on the barrel length and action length, the lathe headstock size and length. I would say for 80%, the barrel need to be removed from the action.
