That is what I was thinking.

I have a couple of CZ527’s .221’s with factory barrels, one is threaded. Also a custom .221 fb with a 7 twist. My standard load is 18.8gr 1680, 40gr vmax. I have always been very happy with the performance on gophers and pd’s.

I was looking at load data and even at 52kpsi a couple of powders are pushing .233 factory load data velocities with the 40 vmax. If pushed to 5.56 pressures I would think 3800 fps would be close. I have a 8 lb jug of the A2200 data powder and 3 pounds of A2200 and the .221 looks like the perfect place to use it for tons of shooting. Would a 20" barrel get most of the velocity out of it?

Instead of the 221 FB, if you want speed and accuracy, how about going with the 22 PPC ? Just a thought.

In my M21 in 221FB using 40gr NBT, I have chronographed 19.0gr AA2200 at 3350fps, if that helps any.

Same speed with less powder probably would have been a better point. .22PPC would be great, if I had the correct bolt, "Howa 1500 mini and L46
