Default Rem. Model 7 trigger replacement

I just picked up a Rem. model 7 in 204R and it has the absolute worst trigger I have ever tried on any factory rifle. What are some suitable replacements and why did you choose it?
Also, if you have any favorite loads for a 12 twist I would appreciate the info.

Shillen do a nice one. Mine was $99 from Brownells 3 years ago. I've also got a Jewel in a M7 and to my insensitive fingers there's not much difference in feel. Certainly not $200 difference, Imo.

Default If it has the "new" trigger on it...

... you are in a bind! I think Timiney is the only outfit with one that fits the M7. The new trigger is sufficiently different that older triggers cannot be substituted.

We're talking about the Wood Model 7, not the Predator Model correct?

I'm thinking of buying this one

Default confused

If you toggle back between the Timney, Rifle Basix and Midway sites there are a bunch of descrepancies. Basically Timney tells you that their 501 Trigger will not replace the X Mark Pro which is all they used from 2006 and later. Midway leads you to believe that the 700, 40x, and 7 are all the same. Shilen doesn't even list they make a trigger for the 7. Jewell makes one but it is not interchangeable with the 700. My understanding is that the only problem with interchangeability is stock clearance which I found to be the case with the 700's. I have several 700's that now wear older triggers but they alll rest in custom stocks also. You will also notice that there is a resurgence in guys buying older triggers, most of these are going on X Mark Pro rifles. If you believe Midway the 700 and 7 are interchangeable with only the safety being the issue.

+100, I have used 700 triggers on XR's and Mdl 7's there is a little piece of the stock that needs relieved at the front of the trigger, nothing a little elbow grease and file can't fix. ADam

My experience: I bought a Timney for my 17FB model 7 with wood stock. It is NOT an easy swap. Had to hog a LOT of wood out to get it to fit. Having said that, it's only OK and just a little better than the Remington. If I had to do it over again, I'd have the Remington tricked out by a good trigger guy. Hog

I do have the Predator Model 7 Remington so I may need to rethink how I can correct the trigger issues.

Brownells have the Shilen for R700/40X and XP100. From $97.99 to $149.99.

Absolutely sure I put one in my wooden M7 some years back.
