Finally had a search yield results..
But I still have a question. Has anyone used Kroil then a copper remover and had a problem? I've used Kroil for years at work but been hesitant to use a copper remover afterwords in case there's a reaction. Just like using some cleaners (Shooter Choice?) to clean Pyrodex. I like Tetra and WipeOut and am tempted to try Bore Tech products.

Some day when you're tired of playing with all that stuff.
Get a tube of Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner and give it a try. You'll never go back to all this other stuff.

The only interaction you will have is that the copper remover won't work until you get all the oil out of the bore. If the kroil coats the copper the copper remover can't react with it so it won't remove the copper. Larry

Not sure, but it used to be common practice to mix half and half of Kroils and Butch's Boreshine, so I'd image a copper removal after Kroils would not be an issue. I've never had an issue using Shooter's choice after letting a barrel sit with Kroils in it.

Barretcreek, I normally use Kroil or Hoppes first for powder removal, then dry patch, then Montana Xtreme for copper without any problems. If you are concerned about the different solvents, just dry patch the solvent out, then use the copper solvent. Do not mix the solvents together.
However, I recently picked up a new trick from the Howa/Legacy website. They sugggested using Windex (the window cleaning solution) to clean barrels, even for break-in of barrels. It seems to work pretty well to remove a lot of powder fouling and soot. Didn't get much copper either, after using Montana Xtreme. |

I use the Kroil- Butch's mix, followed by Patchout ,somrtimes use Wipeout Accelerator. My main thought is get the powder fouling. Often i let it set a day. Patchout works well on copper. No noticeable problems.
Windex. Does it have a %%%% of ammonia in it? |

If Windex works that good then Dawn dishwashing liquid should work like a champ.

So would valve grinding compound.
Rub it in long enough and it'll even smooth the bore out too.

I-too use a Kroil/Butch's mix, 50:50 for cleaning during the day - the odd time that day-time cleaning is done.
My major cleaning is an overnight soak with WipeOut then patched out in the morning, then Kroil/Butches, then 2 dry patches as the Kroil/Butch's always show clean - .17AH or Hornet! After the second dry patch, it's ready to shoot pretty much all day. I've gotten to where I will clean the .17, only if I go over 200 shots, though. While neither seem to care whether it's 200 or 500, I still do a quick 10 minute soak/clean with the 50:50 mix when running over 200 in the .17, but not the Hornet. It does not copper foul at all. Perhaps Lil'Gun fouling is a good lubricant.
