Magnetospeed. True muzzle velocity without the hassle of setup or light issues.

I have 3 different Oehler's and I am very happy with them.

Just over a yr ago I blew a big wad and bought a CED M2. Am tickled with it, though only used it three times. I also got the battery pack and infra red setup. Never missed a shot. Though it reads better when these tiny bullets are closer to the lights.

Hell of a deal, while I was in the hosp/nursing home those months. My trusted friend moved it from where I kept it on a shelf to the back of the room and buried it under a bunch of boxes. Since there was quite a bit of other things stolen I assumed that was too. Collected on the insurance and ordered a replacement for around $550. The very next day I got back there digging around and found it.

SO: Now I've got two of 'em sitting here! Now what do it do?

Good luck on your choice, the more you spend, the better unit you'll get regardless of brand. Many claim the el cheapo Chrony's are good, I think they're a POS and I had a long running lost battle with 'em on getting mine fixed. I'd never have another Chrony. Up to you though.

I think it would help if you could let us know what you are going to do with it, what sort of shooting you do & how much you are willing to spend. I have 2 chronos currently, an Oehler 35P in a Square Peg kit & a PVM 21. I haven't used the PVM yet, but have had the 35P for many years & it is great. Only problem I've ever had with it is the printer went bad & wouldn't feed paper through, but Oehler replaced it for about $60 & it works like new again. I will probably buy a Magnetospeed unit pretty soon, as it looks super easy to set up & use. You need to do a bit of reading here , and especially on Accurateshooter.com. There have been several long discussions of chronos on that forum.

If you are serious about things, Oehler is the only way to go. As the saying goes, buy the best and cry just once.

Just to muddy things up a bit........ I have a blue Shooting Chrony with the corded display on the bench. I use it on sunny days with 20ca and up, don't own any 17ca's. All I can say, and I am usually NOT lucky, I have had a total of ZERO problems. I know the more expensive units are better in many ways. However, if you are on a budget and have basic chrono needs, it is one to be considered.

Default Chronograph

I have had nothing but problems with my PACT chronograph; most of the time, it will not register bullet speed. PACT has already "fixed" it once.

Thank you for the replies! I have some researching to do.
