20/222 suggestions, opinions
I seldom post, mostly read, and gain much knowledge from all you who have "been there, done that". But I need some specific feedback and opinions on an upcoming project.
Thinking of building a 222 necked to 20. I know about the 20VTT but I want to use my 222 bushing neck and body dies for this. Trying to use what I have rather than spring for new custom dies. Any thoughts would be welcome input! |

have one
and love it. also have a 20VT. If I only could have one it would be the 20-222. I really hated to say that as I sure like my 20VT. Do it, you won't be sorry.

Go For It!!!
Good Idea! Don’t own a 20 something yet, but from all the lurking I’ve done here I have pretty much concluded that the 20-222 is what I want in a do all cartridge. It definitely looks like the best of all worlds to me. However the 20 VarTarg on the Cooper Classic 38 action seems mighty sweeeeet too. Decision, decisions!!!!

I agree; the 20 Practical (20/223) has always made alot of sense to me for a easy, cheap and no fuss way to go the 20 route and the same would hold true for the 20/222. Maybe call it the 20 AP (Also Practical)
Good luck D |

Having done four .20 caliber cartrdges so far, I would say the .20-222 is my favorite. I love the looks and performance of the cartridge. And I was able to use my existing brass and Redding dies.
I did an experiment a few weeks back where I took a Winchester .222 case, necked it down to .20, and fired it 16 times using as much N133 as I could stuff into it for 4000 fps with a 32 VM. At the end of the experiment the case had grown only .005" and was in perfect condition. I do like the .20 PPC better for the 40s though. |

Powders?
Fireball or any of you others,
Other than Vhit powders, what others have you found work well in this cartridge? I have plenty of 335. Is that too slow? By the way, interesting case stretch experiment. I would have thought there would be more stretch since there is a rather lazy shoulder and case taper. |

My 20-222s also liked 2230C and RL7. For some reason 2015BR and H322 didn't shoot as well. I really expected those two powders to work well. But N133 is the sweet spot for my two rifles. Accurate, burns really clean and plenty of speed.

RL10 and Benchmark
My "Sicero 20-222 TurboMule" (a 20-222 using a shortened 204R chamber) enjoys RL10 and Benchmark, with some AA2200 used also. Primary bullet choices have been the 32 gr Horn and Sierra.
Recently acquired some N133, but am waiting on my lazy butt to do the bedding job the CZ deserves before proceeding with more load development. Greg Last edited by Mulerider; 10-18-2006 at 07:33 PM. |

Thanks for helping me make up my mind!
I have decided to go ahead with Greg Tannel building a Twenty Triple Duce (love the sound of that) for me on a 700 BDL.
Ordered a Pac-Nor 11 twist three groove barrel. Thanks to all! |

maybe thats what you should
have greg engrave in script on the side of the barrel, (20-triple duce) why be ordinary when with a little effort you can be different.
