WW680 in 17 Hornet
I have several pounds of the long discontinued WW680 powder. It has been in the bottom of my gun safe for a long time and I would like to use it in a 17 Hornady Hornet. Been searching without success for old data using WW680 in the 17 Ackley Hornet to give me a starting place. Any help you can give will be appreciated. Thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving! Alan |

Don't have any WW680 data, but as I recall, the AA1680 is very close in burn rate, so you may be able to estimate charges for that. Also, some time ago, Hodgdon had a surplus powder, I think it was H116, that was a ballistic twin to WW680. Maybe you can search for those two powders for for similar results, but I would bet the closest cartridge would be for 22 Hornet.

I've used W680 in my .17AH for a long time, got good accuracy out of it. You should be able to find data for it on here, or refer to 1680 data, then I'd reduce it a little to start on the .17 Hornet. Like 1680, though, cleaning could be easier.

Thanks. So far my searches for WW680 load data in a 17 AH have proven futile; both here and via Google. Will continue.

You fellows with the Ackley Hornet in 17 cal. Do you think it would be of any really value or increase to have a CZ 527 in the Hornady Hornet chamber reamed to accept the Ackley ? Curious about such. Bill K

I'd keep it stock as the advantage isn't worth the cost of the conversion.

Thanks Johnly. That is what I was hoping for. In the absence of data I was going to start at 11.0 or 11.2 and work up. Looks like I was thinking right. Thanks again.
