Default WTB Howa Mini

I am looking for a Howa mini action or rifle with a 223 bolt face for a 17FB build.
Thanks for any help!

You might also put out feelers for a CZ 527, along with the Howa Mini, as it will work very nicely also.
I took one of mine and re-barreled it to 17FB and it works and shoots great.

Thanks Bill
Which action do you like best in terms of smoothness etc.
The mini will hold 10 rnds vs 5 for the cz ...right?

I like both makes, but if I had to make a choice as to smoothness, the Howa's seem to edge out the CZ 527 anyway.
The amount of magazine holding does not bother me, as I usually load single shot regardless, and when I do use either magazine, no problems with each and the amount they hold.

Question Bill. When you converted a CZ in 223 to 17FB, what if any changes did you need to make to the bottom metal and/or the magazine. I guess my question assumes that the parent rifle was a 223 not a 221FB. Thank you.

The 527 I converted was a 17 hornet. My gunsmith opened the bolt face to accept the 17FB (221fb) cartridge.
I obtained a 221 FB magazine and that allowed the 17FB to feed, with no further bottom metal work needed. I also use a Bob's slide for a single shot feed.
Was very easy for my smith to do the job.

Why not just purchase your friends 17FB?

Good question...I have a XR 100 in 20 VT now. A great set up but want a smaller/lighter rifle and I think I want a repeater on this one.

The price 527’s command now is ridiculous. Would make a pricey build. Maybe I am just to cheap. Oh how I wish I had bought a dozen of the Mini’s before they got close to ridiculous price.

I checked my 222 mini a while back for a gent. It sure acts like it would feed 221/20VT/17FB from the factory magazine.
