I wish I had a crappie Savage action! I would build a single shot .45 acp with a bull barrel, 23" long and put it in a good fitting stock and shoot it till the cows came home!

David shooting handguns was my first love, then I couldn't see sights and then the shakes got me plus old age. This Sav is an early single shot with SSS benchrest trigger they installed years ago. I have multiple bolt heads for it. One day I'd plan to build a switch barrel pistol cartridge gun. The Sav is the easy way to do that especially with their SS action. I even have a varmint stock inletted for it made from my Rem pattern. Your 45 ACP idea may push me over the brink this summer into finally building one. I'm still not a Sav fan. LOL

Like Nike says, Just do it! I mean it’s in best interest since handguns was your first love and now there’s nothing like some glass to see.... of course if you wanted something even milder there’s nothing like a 9mm carbine. Almost like shooting a 22LR and with cheap plated bullets they dint cost much to shoot

I’d have to do it on a 45 LC case thought. I have done shortened LC cases but it was for a shotshell experiment.

David, I’m trying to downsize and if I keep my NEF collection, I might see if you could build me a 357 max and a 45 LC.

GLWenzl,

just let me know when you get ready to do something!

When it comes to barrel stubs, my 45 Auto Rim / 45 Auto / 45 Super is one of the most fun guns I have ever owned!

I have never been into "big bore" cartridges, and anything 6mm has always been my favorite, but this little .45 rifle with it's quieter tone when fired, and heavy hammer smack when a 230 to 250 grain bullet makes contact with a target, plus the great accuracy achieved, it is such a great little rifle that seems to handle anything of 200 yards, put it's very cost effective to load for. I mean, 1,000 rounds from a single one pound can of powder for 1,200 fps. loads, or just a very few grains more to bump velocity up to 1,500 to 1,600 fps., it truly is a great Baby Big Bore rifle! AND!!! It don't knock your teeth loose everytime you pull the trigger!

Thank you 6BRBB, and it most certainly is!

I have done all I can do in long-range shooting, as well as high-accuracy shooting, but these "3" .45's that you can shoot in the same chamber, are just so much fun to shoot. Plus, the accuracy for these cartridges, at least to me, is very impressive!
