The stub end of the barrel is being rough machined...



Stub end before final turning and threading...



Muzzle end of barrel being turned down before threading and crowning...

The brake has been screwed onto the barrel and is ready to be turned down...

Default Custom H&R rifles

Ah "Now I see, said the blindman". New chamber and all with the barrel fitted into the small original barrel tube. Thank you for those David.. Very interesting and different from what I was thinking of how it was done. Bill K

Does the gun need to be a rifle or will a shotgun be safe?
I know years ago shotgun firing pins were too large for rifle primers.
The extractors could also be a problem, I assume.
My ML was made from a New England action.
I made the entire stub including scope base because I didn't want to sacrafice a barrel. If I needed a extractor, itwould have been a different story.
