BCB passed away a while back. Check the Tribute to fallen members.

As for forming 223 to 20 Practical. Best to get yourself a FL bushing die in 223 and then a couple proper size bushings and resize that way.
You could run your brass through your SB die first to make sure the base is down to specs, if it is or has been fired in a semi-auto. Then go to the FL bushing die.
And use a 20 caliber decapping rod and mandrel in the die.
It will work just fine and your issues should stop.

Pull up the 20 cal spot on the listing on the left edge of this sites main page and you will see a lot of info on the 20 practical, which will end your issues also.
Forget the jaz about taking the mandrel off the rod, as some do or say to do. :

My brain freeze. The 20 cal info I referred to is on the main page of Accurate Shooter forum. If you are not a member you can still pull up the site and check it out and read the information.

Thanks Bill !

I picked up a RCBS, two die forming set, for the 17/223 chamber.

The first die squeezes the neck down to accommodate the 20 cal. bullets.

My son is getting ready to pull the plug on a 20 Practical build.

I think this die will work ?

Again thanks !

Jim

It will work out just fine for you.
So many try to make the 20 Practical and 20 Tactical forming process sound hard, when they both are formed, from 223 brass so easy, with a good bushing die and a couple of proper sized bushings.
Enjoy your 20 Practical, it is a very fine shooting cartridge.
Down the road a few photos and maybe some stories on shooting would be nice, we do like photos and stories of projects and critters taken.

Thanks Bill !
We played with some once fired Mil. brass, and the die works great. We checked run out and it is at .001.
Neck tension is good also.
My son put in his order to rebarrel, the new Howa Mini from Brownells.

Great. I just is so easy if you just K.I.S.S. and sit back and enjoy forming, loading and shooting the 20 Practical.
Looking forward to some photos and information on the process you two are making and how they look.
