The search function doesn't like numbers here. Try putting this into google:
site:www.saubier.com 17 CCM load When you put the site:www.saubier.com in first it will only pull results from saubier. Aaron |

I have several versions of the load data that was furnished with the Cooper rifles. Load data for the .17CCM was also published in the first Accurate Arms Load Data Manual (the full sized one). And, if you Google .17 CCM Load Data, it will likely lead you to many Saubier posts (and others) That seems to work better than the forum search feature.
PM if you desire further info on what I have on hand. |

Thanks for the replies fellas. I was able to find some info with your suggestions, BUT I am not really interested in using proprietary bullets (19 calhoun). I was hoping somebody might have some info on loads using 17g V-Max. I acquired 500 from a friend and thought they would be useful in this cartridge. I would be especially delighted if I could find a load using IMR 4227 as I have a lot of it. Thanks again guys, dedogs.

If I remember correctly G. Wenzl likes the 17gr VMAX in his CCM. I think he used enforcer for powder. You won't need much powder to burn up the 500 bullets you've got.

The perfect bullet for the 17ccm
Your 17ccm is absolutely perfect for the 17VMAX.
5.6grains of a ball powder is what the standard 17gr 17HMR uses for loads. http://www.saubier.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20728 http://www.saubier.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17258 According to GLwenzel, "The CCM brass is fragile and can go from a good load to opening the primer pockets in a tenth of a grain with some loads…That being said, I have noticed that a tenth of a grain in my 17vha cases makes as much as 40 to 50 feet per second change when using 300MP. W296 is a very similar powder as is H110. Stick to tenth grain changes if possible, as it is plenty enough in my 17vha to cause velocity and pressure changes. The H2O capacity of the 17VHA 40° Ackley version with Fiocchi cases is 12.75gr, according to the links above the 17CCM has 9.2 to 9.5gr H2O capacity (to lip of case neck). 9.0gr of 300MP under 20gr XTP HMR bullets with CCIBR4 primers in my 17VHA FIOCCHI cases just fine as a load for a case with 12.75gr H2O capacity. If you wanted to use 300MP for 20gr HMR XTP start around 6gr in your 17ccm. (9.2/12.75)*9.0gr 300MP =6.47gr, "ish" Be safe have fun, I have a stash of the 17gr vmax, they are pretty darn easy to load, very explosive expansion at max velocity from the 17VHA and the most accurate bullet and load that it can shoot. Remember, ANY load data is brass specific for this caliber. Using the better Fiocci made brass, I shoot 9.2 of 1680 behinnd 20's @ 3200 fps so you should be good to be in that area. Use small pistol primers.

9.x seems high unless it is 1680
Tim, I'm not sure you aren't really referring to the 17vha, and not a 17CCM. I am aware that Fiocchi did produce brass for the 22CCM, and the 17CCM.
17VHA Fiocchi brass 12.5gr H2O case capacity unfireformed, 17CCM max case capacity for powder is about 9gr, if I look at this thread here from Saubier.com : http://www.saubier.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16760 According to this above referenced thread, safe powder weights seem to be down around 7.5 max with the exception of 1680. Also these were shot using 17vmax, not the 20gr. Now that you have pointed out that the 1680 allows better performance, I am going to see how it stacks up against 300MP in my 17VHA, it might be the ideal powder in it.
