Default WTB .17 caliber rifle

My dad is really jealous of my CZ527 .17 Remington. Ever since he watched me drop a coyote in its tracks past 200yds he wants a .17 caliber cartridge.

.17 remington would be preferred, but .17 Fireball/Mach 4, 17 Hornet, .17/222, doesn't matter. He'd be interested.

Thanks.

Default 17 rem.

Have a Sako A1 in 17 REM.Shilen CM 24” light sporter barrel. Fiberglass stock. Has about 200 rounds through barrel, if that. I shot 30 grain Bergers with AA2700 and it shoots well with them. Would take 1300.00 + shipping for it. Could throw in RCBS dies and a few brass. Best nvtoy

Default 17 Rem

Sounds like a great rifle, that A1 Sako. I have it’s twin and won’t sell it.

I appreciate that. I'll pass it along to my dad and see what he thinks. He's wanted a Sako for a while too. It's a great rifle. I hope he thinks so too because it seems like a good deal. It may be too nice if you know what I mean.

NVtoy
Any pictures of your .17 Sako?
Do you know what type of stock it is?

Hal

I have an original 17 Fireball stainless 700 action mated to a 27" fluted Lilja Sendero contour barrel. Rem H.S. Precision bedded stock with Timney trigger I would consider selling if that fits your price range.

I spoke with my pops and his budget is a little tight for this rifle. He'd like to buy it, but just not in his price range thanks though.

Perusing the auction sites, there isn't any .17 caliber cartridge rifle less than a thousand dollars and most are well north of that. Best bet may be to rebarrel an existing firearm and even with a cheap barrel still be in the $500 and up range.

I would strongly advise finding brass and dies for selected cartridge first.
I had the thoughts of a 20VT for a while. If I had not found a die and brass I would not have moved forward with it.
There is all but no 221 fireball brass to be found. I shouldn’t have been nice and bought 1k of brass when I had the chance.
