Need help with annealing 17AH brass.
Annealing for the 1st time. Using a two torch system. Moved the pencil points to the neck shoulder junction. With 750 degree Templaq inside the neck and 450 degree Templaq on the base I observed that the 750 disappeared and the 450 melted slightly to form a smooth uniform section (but did not run) after only two seconds in the flame. Does that sound right. Should I move the pencil point of the flame further away? Did I overheat the brass?
Any suggestions from experienced annealers would be appreciated. Chuck |

Nothing should melt, use this as a good starting point;

17tbs - Watched the video.
It was a big help, especially seeing the distance between the ends of the flame for spacing. I was way too close. Now have to find another Bernzomatic torch that will work properly. Interesting that a brief yellow flame appeared right at the end of the time of heating.

When you get the yellow, it is a little too hot. Just go to a single torch, or turn both torches down a little. Haven't annealed Hornet for awhile, so not remembering it clearly.
