Default PacNor Update

Found this on another website...………

Pac Nor Update
A friend and I drove over to Brookings Friday to get out of the valley.
While there we decided to stop by where the Pac Nor shop had been to see if they had made any progress since their devastating fire last October.
It seems their plans to rebuild were held up for 3-4 months by local land use laws.
When we got up the hill, there stood a brand new steel building filled with machine tools.
Three employees were working and owner Chris Dichter was on site. Chris's son Casey was off looking for more tooling.
They had just started drilling the very first barrels in the new shop.
I saw maybe 20 or so 30 caliber barrels that had been freshly drilled.
Chris said they were going to Noveski for a government contract.
Since the barrel making business is so specialized a lot of the tooling has to be made in house.
I think Casey makes most of the special tooling.
I know he makes the buttons for rifling the barrels.
The oven for heat treating the barrels had not arrived yet.
They are in the earliest stages of production, so don`t expect them to get to full speed for 3-4 months.
It`s good to see a premium barrel maker back up and running, if only in the earliest stages.

Default This is great news!

PAC-Nor is one of my favorite companies to deal with.I am very happy to hear this and will definitely be ordering barrels as they get up and running.

Wonderful news!

Almost all very specialized machining firms I know of make their own tooling. Their tooling is usually what makes them more competitive.

I called to wish them well a couple weeks back and a few days later they called me back. The lady was very upbeat and said they had a tentative T.O.T. of late June or early July.
Good Lord knows I certainly don't need another project but I'm going to try to come up with something I do "need " just to help em out. Great folks.

Really great to see a wonderful company back up and operational. I wish them every success, we need more stuff made here, not less.

Its great to see them backup and running, albeit not at full speed just yet. Chris seemed pretty committed not too long after the fire to rebuild.

If I had to choose just one barrel maker to make the custom barrels of any bore diameter that I might need, it would be PacNor. Over the years I've never had a bad one, and what I have bought from them has always been accurate and very easy to clean up.
