Adam, I thought the same thing as something simple is usually the last thing to check. All tight and good to go on the scope but it will happen someday again im sure.

XS, seems to be the case about the cleaning as well. I noted it was pretty dirty overall and will ensure to clean every 20 or when it opens up. I will be using it for the exact same purpose of calling coyotes mainly. Ill have to post back when I get a chance to take it out and shoot.

Those running 55 bergers, what has been experience with seating depth?

Just an update. I cleaned it to the max at the recommendation of how touchy others have been when shooting over 20 rounds. I loaded up the 55gr bergers with H4350 and took it to the range. Shot off the bipod with a a light fluctuating wind. 4 shots in under a 1/2" with no vertical component. I suspect the mild side to side is either me or the wind.

So, I am sticking with that for sure.

Thanks for the input everyone

Has anybody ever used H335 or H4831sc with the 55 grain Bergers in their .20-250? If so, what is a sage starting point and max limit?

H 4831 should not be too fast. May be a bit slow
Using H414 right now, may give H4350 and H4831 a try sometime.

Just use the 22-250 reloading data for same weight bullet and cut back a few grains.. Or just compare another load using a different powder and compare it to what the 22-250 has listed in a manual..

Quickload has a 22-250 reaching 50,000 psi with 37 grains of rl-17, and a 55 gr horn FMBT with a 92.62% burn efficiency from a 24" barrel.
Given those parameters, I'd probably start in at about 35.5 gr. .

But then again, I have a large box of brass with loose primer pockets that are going to be sold for scrap one day

That's a pretty bold statement. Just because you are launching the same weight bullets the volume for a 20 cal. and a 22 cal barrel in the same length are going to be completely different. I would imagine a load designed for a 22-250 would have a much greater velocity and a much higher pressure on the 20 cal. Maybe so much higher as to be a catastrophic in the 20 cal.
