Model 7 trigger (X-Mark Pro) in my 17 Fireball

I bought my Model Seven 17 Fireball (Predator model with skinny fluted barrel) back in 2010 so it has the X-Mark Pro trigger. Today I'm seeing this Remington recall specific to this trigger (https://www.remington.com/support/sa...l-seven-notice). Special thanks to Remington for not contacting me despite the warranty card I returned...

Regardless, this gun has been a bit of safe queen the last few years and I forgot how stiff the factory trigger is. My recent range trip in anticipation of groundhog season reminded me of this so am interested in options to improve it. I checked and my trigger breaks right around 4 lbs...hard enough I was wondering if the safety was on while taking my first shot.

My old notes on research suggest a drop in trigger replacement is best due to design issues with the factory trigger making adjustments questionable. Any suggestions on a replacement trigger and a good weight for varmint hunting?

I use a Jewell in my .17FB Model 7 and in most of my other rifles. If cost is a consideration, a Timney is a good replacement.

Rifle Basix is another good and easy trigger to use. And Jard. Bill K

Thanks. Looking at the Rifle Basix and called them. They said I would have to inlet my stock in the area of the safety as the Rifle Basix requires I use their safety mechanism.

Anybody know how much inletting is needed? The guy said it depends upon the stock.

Timney's are a very decent and reasonably priced option.

Don't buy a Bix N Andy trigger for a Model 700 unless you just like to spend money.......... They are addictive and they are a great trigger. Just kinda' spendy. But like the chips, "You can't have just one"

I only had to relief a very small amount on one rifle I had to allow the safety to fit in. Small Dremel or Exacto knife did the trick. Bill K
