Interesting to see the difference's.

So few around this area i can't recall the
last one I saw. Last I recall was in the late '60's
in the mtns 165 miles SW of here.

I have about the same bed liner in my Ram.

I remember noticing a few groundhogs running across paddocks in Ohio, wish I had stopped to enquire if I could go hunting, but all I had was my Benchrest rifle and no loaded ammo.

One day I want to come back and shoot some groundhogs and Rock Chucks, it's on my "Bucket list" along with going to Aussie to shoot foxes...….Kiwi

you should have done what a friend did in Italy. couldn't have a firearm so he threw rocks at them, a true hunter to the bone.
while he was there he called me on my cell phone and a fried and myself was out in the desert. i was talking to him when all of a sudden i told him to hold on i had a hugh jackrabbit in my sights. i shot and he heard a loud whop. i could tell from his voice his heart just sank because he couldn't be there hunting with us.
later we told him i didn't shoot a jack but a large cactus just to mess with him. after isn't that what friends are for.

Bill he still hasn't forgiven me for that one.
We have been friends since 1985, the first time he came to my house for dinner we had ribeye steaks. I had a britiny spanial at the time. I sat him at the end of the table where she usually sat on the end of the sofa and watched us eat.
As she watched him eat she would whimper as he ate. He laid down his knife and fork and ask what was wrong with her. Without missing a beat I said " pay no attention to her she is just upset that you are eating from her dish.
We have been friends ever since.

Thumbs up foxhunter..........

No "editing" is needed.........as your pic shows your accuracy. The little pill went EXACTLY where you intended!!

RareBear......

Actually......I was recalling the early 1970's........and my feeling like the "Lone (17 caliber) Ranger".
After telling a few folks that I hunted with 17 caliber rifles..........they would many times ask "Which pellet rifle you use most ?".

I have been a bit reluctant to interrupt this post with my story about good friends, but I will.

Back in the 80's I was general gunsmithing in Redding, CA. I made friends with Ben known as the Guru of varmint hunting in the area. We went on many great hunt together.

Having a need to hold a job that paid well enough to buy bread and milk, I moved on. After I left the area cell phones started coming out and Ben got one. I also had one by this time. Periodically Ben would call and give me a play by play, shot for shot while he was out shooting gray diggers.

After I moved to Montana I started reciprocating with the calls while gopher shooting, all with a good give and take. I would make the shot and he could hear it, he could hear it quite will and would call the misses also-and was usually right. That old boy always saw my misses.

Several days after a call, I got a call from Ben's phone and it was his wife Mary telling me that Ben had passed away. I was shocked. I knew he was elderly, I didn't know he was weak. Mary told me that when I made my last call, Ben was laying in a hospital bed dying. The family was sitting with him. Mary said my call made him perk up and he talked about it the rest of the day.

Ben Herrera will always be in my mind when I am out shooting varmint. He was a great friend.
