Awesome stuff! And if you go to the Vectronix website, you can see they make units to range to 21km (12 miles?) and have goniometer stands that measure elevation and rotation precisely. Never seen prices, but I bet we have to sell a car (if not a house) to buy one. Nice antireflection device, too. Thanks Kevin. How far will it range on smal or normal targets? Is it in for fixing or just for playng?

Think I'll just stick with my old 1200. Even with the 6X284, there's seldom a need for ranging to 12 miles.

Default Very nice Kevin....

Perhaps someday I will step up and get a geovid.
Someone once said "Someday" never comes but I'm sure gonna try.
I hope you get out and post some field pics with the cause and effect of your good shooting.
Matt

Thumbs up TinMan.....

......Yep.....these are mine. I had been looking for them for a few years.

These are the model 1500GMD(gap measuring device), which have a theoretical range of 5 to 2500 meters, and which read to 0.5 meters. The unit can be set for meters, yards, or feet....and has many functions, including an RS-232 interface port. The laser beam divergence is 0.3 milliradians vertical by 1.5 milliradians horizontal.

630 yards is the maximum distance I had ranged a individual PD, with my original Geovid 7X42 rangefinders. I'm hoping for 800-1000 yards, with these. Guess I'll find out this summer.

No goniometer stand is necessary, as the asimuth and inclination functions are already incorporated into the unit.

BTW, the glint protection caps are absolutely necessary.......as I can't have any trophy bull PD's spotting my position........

Kevin

Nice range finder. My friend has one but had some issues the last time he had it servced by Leica; they almost did not return it to him. Turns out, since he purchased it, the rules changed and these are not supposed to be owned by civillians.

Question Doug........

......Who did your friend go through, for service? I'm thinking of having the optional etched glass mil reticle added, over the next winter.

Thanks,
Kevin
