Question Need some 20PPC load help.....please!

Ok........I've this new 20PPC with a 9.0" twist barrel.

I'm using Lapua 220R cases, and I plan on shooting 40VMax bullets with VVN530 powder. I "think" I have a fairly good idea of what starting load to use.

Anyway, I'm interested in knowing what starting/fire-forming loads others have used.

What say you????

Chuck??? Jay??? Anyone else? Any bullet? Any powder?

Thanks,
Kevin

Default 20 PPC Fire Forming

Hi Kevin,

I can't help you with the N530 powder since I have never used it. I used 27 grains of Benchmark under 40 grain Vmax bullets to fire form my 20 PPC brass. These were good for 3800 FPS and sub 1" groups at 200 yards from my Dakota Predator with 9 twist Lilja barrel.

Good luck,
Gary

Default 20ppc loads

I'm using H322 and N133 with Vmax and Berger 40's and RL15 and Varget on 50's. Finding VV powders in the Dallas Fort Worth market is a crap shoot with the only option being to pay retail plus Hazmat. But....having said that I have a pound of N530 squirreled away, the lack of any info on this powder has kept me from using it so I will be watching this thread very closely .

Never tried N530, only N540 and N133.

I use 26.6 g of H322 and 32 v-maxs for fireforming. To be honest, there is nothing special about this load, that's just the powder and bullet combination I have a decent supply of. All the work is done with 28.8 g of N540 w/ 39 g Blitzkings. As opposed to the fireform this load is magical. In fact, I haven't even attempted to find something better and this was the first bullet/powder combination I tried.
