19 Calhoon
I recently purchased a rebarreling kit for the 19 Calhoon to have my Ruger 77/22 rebarreled. Anyone shooting the 19 Calhoon? What powders are you using? I would like to find a good load using IMR 4198 because that is what I use in my 222. That may be hoping for too much though.

19 Calhoon Baby
Of all my rifles, my 19 Calhoon always gets shot the most and especially here in MO it's low noise level is a plus for my crow hunting. I use Remington 22 hornet brass because they seem to offer slightly more powder capacity. After much research, my rifle liked 13.5 gr of AA1680, CCi 400 primer, Cahloon 32gr DHP @ 1.775" OAL. Last summer the velocity chronographed 3490fps here in the hot MO summer. We shot over 600 rounds on a SD PD hunt out to 220yds. YOU WILL LOVE THIS CALIBER!!!!!

I'm also using 1680, 14.3gr behind a 27gr bullet, good to about 225-250 yards.

Another vote for AA1680
It sure is a fun cartridge to shoot, and easy to load for.
James really does make some super fine bullets. My Cooper 19-223 puts 5 shots into 1/4" groups on a very regular basis with the 32grn bullet. I shoot the 27's in the 19Hornet and they do very well too not as good as the Cooper but still very good shootin none the less. Matt
