Default My New Small Bore Project Rifle !!

http://www.auctionarms.com/Closed/Di...mNum=8357211.0

I actually don't have a concrete plan yet, other than selling the bbl, the bolt, the stock and the trigger !!!!

I am leaning toward the 17 Shrew at the moment but the 5.7 case is also interesting.

Default stock

let me know how much you want for the stock? the looks like a short action gun, which isn't what I'd expect from a .300 win mag? Anyhow, if that is a short action stock, i'd be interested in talking to you about a price for that.

Isn't it crazy to have that cartridge in a short action rifle ???? I guess you can wiggle the loaded round into the chamber when loading and I guess the ejection port is long enough to allow the fired case to be ejected but I am sure you would have to remove the bolt to get an unfired round out of the receiver.

I don't think Rem ever offered a long action single shot.

PM me about the stock. I don't even know what they are bringing but I will do some research.

Ray

Default Finding a bolt....

with a small bolt face may be tough to locate.

Good luck though.

Nahh. That's easy. Just get a new one from PT&G--about $150, I think. It still needs to have some fitting done and the bolt handle will have to be silver soldered or TIG welded on.

I think the short action mag bolt may be worth some money to the WSM fans. I am thinking about a Savage bolt head conversion on whatever bolt I use.

Default Pacific Tool and Gauge

Dave Kiff makes bolts to fit these guns as was mentioned. I'm sure that they are well made. I believe that you can get most any boltface. It may require the bolt handle installation as was mentioned, and the firing pin assembly.

Midway carries the PTG bolt kits. I am pretty sure that Kiff offers oversize bolt bodies if you order direct.

The Savage bolt head coversion is pretty neat. I have some ideas floating around in my head for converting a savage bolt head to the Hornet case.

Hornet bolt head for a Savage??? That sounds like a good product for SSS to make and sell.

I don't think Fred wants to mess with it. I have some ideas that may make it workable without too much PITA but I think it will only work good in my 40x RF conversion to CF. In my conversion the Savage bolt head will not rotate. This makes the extractor easier to deal with.
