I ran .025" on mine, I know some run .000". With the long neck it's less of an issue if there is no freebore. Remember a 1*30 lead is roughly the equivalent of .015" freebore.

And that leade that Adam spoke of is the first thing in the firing line to take a battering when you fire a shot.

You will also have at the very least 0.025" from the end of neck to the start of the leade. Kenny

I have a 20 caliber that has 0.065" from the end of the case to the rifling,

which when it is all ironed out not much different than Adam's 0.025".

Now get your callipers out and set them at 0.065".

That's about what you are going to get by ordering a 0.025"
freebore reamer. You will have plenty of purchase on any
20 caliber bullet and reach the rifling if you so desire. Kenny

My .20 Bobcat reamer is at .000

Then you factor in the dimensions mentioned above...

Most of these measurements are confusing other things with freebore. Freebore is part of the barrel that is bore diameter with no rifling in it, I think it is generally thought of as a way to get the bullet aligned straight before it enters the rifling. The other measurements mentioned have other diameters associated with them, like neck diameter, the taper to the neck to the freebore etc. You can have zero freebore and most any distance to reach the lands depending on how the reamer is ground. Larry
You are painting with a pretty wide brush.
