Should work fine, but don't push 'em too fast or they'll come apart in the air. I'd choose a mid-range load to start with and work up slowly, as always.

The 53 gr vmax ought to be right in the wheelhouse for that twist. Doubt a 223 can push the 55's fast enough to come apart, but they should be fine. The 50 Blitz King should be outstanding as well.
Forgot...have a co-worker that uses the 40 vmax in his tikka. Awesome accuracy and explosiveness Last edited by csterner; 04-18-2016 at 12:14 AM. |

Side by side I consider SBKs to be more target disruptive than Vmax.

Buddies Tikka
With a 1 in 8 twist shoots 40 Gr V-Max very well with reloader 7.

40VMAX with AA2200 shoots great in 223 with 3 different rifles (1:9 and 1:12).

Try N133 with he 40's. Should be screaming fast. Mine does 3700 with a 20" barrel and is a laser to 400.

About the only problem with a barrel that has too fast a twist for the bullet (besides making the bullet turn to dust) is that at long ranges the bullet ends up flying really nose high which hoses up it's BC and likely how well it will expand due to the odd angle of impact. Larry
