2004 Browning 204 Ruger rings
Just got back from Brownells with a set of Talley lightweight rings for Browning A-Bolt, and they don't fit my A Bolt.
Obviously I didn't do my homework but I can't find much out other than the A-bolt 3 rings are different than regular A-Bolt rings. The front ring screw spacing works with the rings I have but the rear screw spacing is closer together. Any insight on whether I have an AB3 or what rings I need? Added: just figured out it was manufactured in 2004. More added: it's certainly not an AB3. Last three SN# is 351, so why in heck are the screw spacing different? Might have to have buddy machine in a new hole where it needs to be. Thanks, Chris |

Think I figured it out. I believe my action is the same A-Bolt action used for the 223 and 243 WSSM as the rear base screw holes appear closer together than the front holes. I'm calling Talley in the morning.
Added: after many hours of internet search I've gathered enough info to conclude the A-bolt 2 in 204 Ruger does use Browning's shortened WSSM action. Guess they're kinda rare but mine shoots lil bitty groups, is a joy to carry, has killed many furry and feathered critters, and it's certainly not NIB anymore.
