Default Favourite fur friendly 20cal bullet

I’ve been shooting a 20 tac for a couple years and love the gun. Been shooting 39gr blitz kings into one tiny little hole, but problem is my best friend and his father collect all the fur and sell off to auction at the end of the year. About 50% of my coyotes shot aren’t salvageable. I’ve picked up 100 35gr Bergers to try but haven’t tested them yet. Any other suggestions while I’m going through load data?

I used the 35 gr Bergers, and also the 40 gr. Bergers for a spell, and I was pleased with both although the 40's would completely pass through a bit more often then I cared for.

For me its a simple process: Stay away from the very explosive ballistic tipped types of bullets and use HP bullets for fur collection. The ballistic tip serves as a ram on the bullet jacket at impact to further cause quick and explosive results. That is not a good characteristic for a coyote bullet but it works great for PD's and other like smaller targets.

Some folks swear by the ballistic tipped bullets for coyotes but I've not had good luck with them. To each their own..........

I started swaging my own 20 caliber 38 grain HP bullets almost 20 years ago for my 20 Tac rifles to avoid the ballistic tipped factory offerings. I'm still using them even though swaging is not among my favorite "hobbies". I just cranked out 200 to get ready for my northern trek for coyotes later this winter after the holidays. What's left over will get used on PD"S next spring.

I’ve had good luck with 32 Blitzkings in my 204. Kill quick and with very few exceptions no fur damage.

35 Berger is good as well.

My favorite is the now defunct 50 grain Berger. If it exits is usually a small little hole that’s easy to fix. Usually stays inside.

In addition to the 35 Berger you already have, I suggest you also consider and try Speer 39 gr TNT and Hornady 45 gr SP and I think your fur putup guys will be happy as long as your shot placement is appropriate. Jim

Wow I guess I should focus on really narrowing down a load and get it on fur! What ranges have you taken coyotes out too with them?

Have a buddy running B.I.B.s 40 grain HP and really likes the performance.
