Jackson,
You sure have your head screwed on properly! Your farm reminds me of working on my families' rice and soy bean farm when I was a kid in Arkansas! Nothing more satisfying than a fresh plowed section/hector nice and straight! I can still smell the gigantic table of food at supper-time and the best tasting iced tea! After a day on the tractor, would go for a dip (clothes and all) in the canals fed with crystal-clear ground water from 20inch wells....about 50 degree cold water! This would rinse the salt-sweat from my clothes so they would not dry set up like rocks from the salt! My hands would stay curled to fit a shovel handle all Summer doing levy work! Thanks for the pics and memory stimulation! Bill

Spent some time in NSW decades ago, mostly Sydney. Australia is an incredibly beautiful country. Hope to get back some day for a visit.

Just to clarify, were you a tax collector, or did you work on a levee? |
