Default Encore, Contender Shooters, a Question please

Have any of you ever experienced a locking bolt breaking while shooting? I have had requests for replacement locking bolts several times over the past couple of years. I did not think about asking them how the locking bolt(usually just one side) broke.

Just wondering

Lowell

In all my years of shooting all the TC frames types, starting with ser# of 2000 in 1964 in numerous calibers,
from 17cal thru 44/45 mag, rifle and pistol calibers, I have never broken ANY locking lug.

And with my luck, it would break!!!!!!!!

I had some that I goofed on,
but my problems not the OEM design problems etc.

Could it be, they are attempting to update with your lug design,
at your expense??

I would hate to think that, but in this day and age,
you never know, any more.

Tia,
Don

I can't say much of anything about Encores, but in regards to Contenders, I was very active in IHMSA silhouette shooting through the eighties, and never heard of anyone breaking a locking lug. A few bent extractors and a hammer spring here and there, but that was about it. Hope this helps.

Default Locking bolts

Hi Lowell,
If you are saying that folks who have purchased your product are asking for additional locking bolts, it may be due to loose lock up issues. Also, the "tails" may be rubbing or need dressing down.

If it is just random people wanting your locking bolts for their "other" barrels, maybe you should price and sell them?
I'll send you a PM.

Maybe they are shooting a round in the Contender that should only be shot out of a Encore.

Thanks guys, no I have not experienced any breakage from our locking bolts. But have had shooters shooting TC Original bolts that claimed that they had.

I spent some time working on some heavy Duty lugs but realized I was working mostly from rumors. So thank you for your experiences and thoughts.

Perhaps these people were removing the bolts & had the spring fling the bolt into the great unknown?

Claiming the bolt broke might cover some embarassment.

Regards,
Ron
