Used to hunt coyotes and shoot p/dogs with a guy that preached 17 Rem like it was a gift from God. Watched him bust a dozen or more coyotes with it. Am guessing he used 30gr Berger's as that's one I recall him talking about.

I only fired it about 4-5 times max. first at 30yds at a fox. Nearly blew it in half with a body shot. No used even picking it up.
The rest were at 400 yd p/dogs. Think I fired either 3 or 4 shots and hit everyone. Same as I had just before with my 222mag. Slight breeze I guessed was maybe ten mph. Both guns were zeroed 2" high@100.

I held: "a height high and height up wind" and hit every shot. He had a hard time believing I never missed and he couldn't hit a one with 3-4 shots from each gun. He paced it off and said it was a "full 400yds".

I was looking for a much smaller 17 from then on but, the Rem was too big a round for my desires. At the time I was shooing p/dogs among $30,000-$100,000 horses. The 17 M2 would have been perfect but, neither it nor the HMR had come out yet.

Looks pretty good. The secret to a smooth rust blue finish, is good carding between coats of the browning solution.
