Default 17 Rem powder help...

Looking for input for 17 rem using 25gr Berger match HP in a cz 527.

I have RL15 on hand that i would like to experiment with. Previously when i loaded this powder using Hornady 25gr hp's my rifle didnt group well at all. It much prefers the bergers. Currently i am loading 27.0gr of win 760 with decent results but quite honestly would like a bit more accuracy that i thnk this gun is capable of. These loads are for coyotes mainly. I also have varget on hand. I am also considering trying some TAC but have no experience with it and thought it might serve double duty with the 223 AR as well.

I am also in the process of load development for an AR based 17 rem and any load data/suggestions for that would be appreciated as well. 20" mid length match grade barrel. I have used win 760 which showed some promise. Open to suggestions. Thanks.

Kyle I use Vargent in my Sako 17 Remington and find it very good. You can get load info here:

Anybody have any loads for RL15? I would really like to give that powder a try. Again I am using a 25gr Berger match. Right now for lack of available components (although it's getting better) I am concentrating my efforts on the bolt gun over the AR. I think I am going to have to go with an adjustable gas bolck on the ar due to over pressure and ejection issues. Been running factory loads on that one mainly. It's a 10 twist and show awesome promise with 20gr accutips.

Default IMR 4007SSC Powder in 17 REMINGTON

I'm shooting the 30gr Gold Woodchuck Den bullets with 26.0 grains of IMR 4007SSC over CCI-450 Mag Primers at 3660fps. It shoots 340fps slower than the reloading manuel shows however this load will shoot 1/4" to 3/8" groups at 100 yds all day. I wish it was faster however I'm very happy how it shoots. I also have a Remington 700 BDL that shoot the same load at 3701fps and consistent 3/8" groups.

Default 17 Rem powder help...

I also have been using 26 grains of IMR 4007 SSC with Berger 25 HP's and Remington 7.5 primers. Very happy with the load though I believe IMR 4007 SSC is being discontinued.

Picked this load up off one of the sites but haven't tried it so I can't vouch for it.

New Rem Brass
Rem 7.5 Primer
22.4 gr of Re-15
25 gr Berger Match bullet
2.150 OAL

They're a little over 3900 fps IIRC.

Hodgdon H4895 always rewarded my 17 Rem barrel with excellent accuracy and speed using Hornady & Berger bullets.

Since the early 1970's I've found IMR4198 to be an excellent powder in the 17 Remington.

It's not the fastest or the most "modern" powder for whatever reasons are important today on the internet, but it simply works in terms of excellent accuracy and very good velocity. I've tried numerous other powders over the years in 17 Remington rifles and I always fall back to IMR4198. It's all I use in my current 4 different 17 Remington rifles.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I may have the most luck tracking down some 4198 or 4895 right now. Really wanted to try TAC but cant find any around here. Finding Varget in my neck of the woods is akin to sighting Sasquatch. Plus I don't want to burn the varget I have testing loads as I use it for other calibers too.
