Default Sako AI 20 vartarg gunsmith recommendation

Hello all,

I have a Sako AI varminter ready to be rebarreled to 20 Vartarg. I recieved my barrel from Pacnor last week (12 twist factory contour) and now I need to decide on a gunsmith. Any reccomendations would be appreciated. For those of you that have rebarreled Sako's do you have the actions trued?

Thanks,

Ryan

Default sakos

I have had made on Sako A1 actions, 17 Rem, 20 VT, 221FB, 223, and 22PPC.
The PPC was varmint contour and I have since sold. The others all sporters. I also sold the 20 VT.
And I have a 22PPC sporter that was a 6PPC, that I had rebarreled.
All of these were made by Jim Kobe in Bloomington, Mn.

They are in McMillan stocks, except the 22PPC is in factory deluxe stock, and are great shooters.

I don't recall for sure, but don't believe that I had the actions accurized. Its been five plus years since I had the last one made.

If any questions, let me know.

Thanks

I would have had Pac-Nor install it as it would have been quicker & less expensive. Pac-nor offers "truing" as the standard procedure when they install a barrel. Sako actions generally don't need to be "trued" as their factory standards are extremely high. The good, reputable smiths are so booked that it can take many, many months to get your gun back. Last one Pac-Nor did for me was 7 weeks. The AI will make a sweet Vartarg!!! Good Luck!

Seems to me that, that would have been the thing to do and maybe still do. Have Pacnor install and finish. Bill K
