I also use some of the sierra 40HP, but it seems to be a heavier jacketed bullet. I use it for coyotes out of my 22 hornet. |

As I recall, the Sierra 40gr HP is designed for high speeds (above 3600fps) like the 22-250. They will richochet on hard ground.

Ya know Stevo, today when I was telling ya about my gopher hunting pal who is crazy about his .222? (Or at least he was till he was introduced to the .17 MachIV, .20 VarTarg and .20 Tactical by someone ). At any rate, that 40 grain Sierra HP is the bullet of choice for his .222 for way many years and many thousand rodents.
Ya oughtta call me more often by the way, ya got two packages while we was talking . Hope they all go in the same hole!!

They can be very accurate but it's no guarantee they will be. I still have some 62 grain fb Bergers that are very accurate in a 1-12 twist Rem 700 , but if I shot a 60 grain Hdy hp at a prairie dog at 300 yds I don't know if I would hit any more or less. It is fun to see however. I also keep some gold plated almost $1 a pop brass in a box for those occasions.
